COMPETITIVE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION INTO THE FIRST YEAR OF THE FOTSO VICTOR UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, BANDJOUN

 

     A competitive entrance examination into the first year of the University Diploma in Technology (DUT) and Brevet de Technicien Supérieur (BTS) of the FOTSO Victor University Institute of Technology of Bandjoun (University of Dschang) is launched for the 2008/2009 Academic Year. This examination shall comprise written tests and file study and it shall take place in the centres of Bandjoun, Bamenda, Buea, Garoua, Douala and Yaounde.

 

This examination shall concern:

  •   Terminale science and industrial techniques pupils, series: C, D, E, MAV, MEM and F as Upper Sixth science pupils (Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry) and who have obtained at least four subjects at the GCE "O" Level in one sitting;
  •  Holders of the Baccalauréat or GCE "A" Level in at least two science subjects obtained in one sitting;
  •  Holders of one of the above-mentioned certificates and who are registered in State Universities for undergraduate courses in the sciences.

            Complete application files should be deposited at the Students' Record and Vocational Counselling Service of the FOTSO Victor University Institute of Technology, the Dschang University antenna at Nkolbisson - Yaoundé, and Provincial Delegations of Secondary Education, latest 31 August 2008 for both cycles. Each file shall comprise following documents:

1. A registration form obtainded from the FOTSO Victor UIT, Bandjoun, duly filled by the candidate. This form is also available in all Provincial Delegations of Secondary Education as well as on the Web Site of the Ministry of Higher Education: http://www.minesup.gov.cm

2. Transcripts of Seconde, Première and Terminale classes;

3. Transcripts of the Baccalauréat or GCE "A" Level and possibly of the Probatoire or GCE "O" Level;

4. A certified true copy of the candidate's birth certificate which is less than three months old;

5. A certified true copy of one of the certificates entitling the candidate to sit for the examination;

6. Four colour passport size photographs (4x4);

7. A certificate of non-conviction which is less than three months old;

8. A medical certificate which is less than three months old issued by a Doctor of the Public Service;

9. A stamped self-addressed envelope (size A4);

10. A pay-in receipt in the account of IUT-FV of an amount twenty thousand (20 000) francs CFA as registration fees. No other mode of payment shall be accepted.

Registered candidates who have not obtained the required certificates shall not be authorised to sit for the competitive examination. "Religious knowledge", for holders ot he GCE "O" Level and "A" Level shall not be considered.

Only candidates with complete files shall be authorised to write.

Candidates shall be free to compete for the following cycles:

I - University Diploma in Technology (DUT):

The competitive entrance examination shall comprise:

            1) a written examination

            2) an assessment of the candidate's previous academic record.

Date of the written examination:

02 and 03 September 2008 for the competitive entrance examination into the first year of the DUT cycle.

This competitive entrance examination shall be launched in the following fields of study, and in accordance with the number of places available as indicated hereafter:

* Electrical Engineering:

            - Electronics option: 45 places

            (GCE "A" Level in science, Baccalauréat C, D, E and F)

            - Electrotechnics option: 45 places

            (GCE "A" Level in science, Baccalauréat C, D, E and F)

* Computer Science for Management: 45 places

            (GCE "A" Level in science, Baccalauréat C, D, E and F)

* Telecommunication and Computer Networks: 45 places

            (GCE "A" Level in science, Baccalauréat C, D, E and F)

* Industrial and Productive Maintenance: 45 places

            (GCE "A" Level in science, Baccalauréat C, D, E, F, MAV and MEM)

* Civil Engineering:

           (GCE "A" Level in science, Baccalauréat C, D, E, F, BT)

The competitive entrance examination shall be based on the syllabus of the final year classes preparing students for the required certificates. They shall include the following papers:

            - Mathematics (Time: 4 hours, coefficient 4)

            - Physics (Time: 4 hours, coefficient 4)

            - Language (French or English, Time: 2 hours, coefficient 2).

Selection Criteria

            a- Written examination (70 %)

            b- Assessment of the candidate's previous academic record (30 %).

II - Brevet de Technicien Supérieur (BTS) :

The selection through file study into the first year of the vocational training cycle (Permanent Training) shall be done in September 2008 at the FOTSO Victor University Institute of Technology, Bandjoun, in the following fields of study and in conformity with the number of places available as indicated hereafter:

             * Electrical Engineering:

                 - Electronics option: 50 places                 

                           (Baccalauréat E, F2, F3)

                 - Electrotechnics option: 50 places                     

                            (Baccalauréat E, F2, F3, F5)

             * Civil Engineering: 50 places                     

                            (Baccalauréat F4, BT, GT, BT IS)

              * Executive Secretaryship: 50 places         

                           (Baccalauréat G1)

              * Accounting and Business Management: 50 places          

                           (Baccalauréat G2, G3)

              * Commercial Technics :50 places  

                           (Baccalauréat in any series).
