GETEC 2026: The Entrepreneurial University at the Heart of the SND30
The 8th edition of the Cameroon Student Genius and Talent Fair focuses on transforming knowledge into solutions and economic value.
Making the university a genuine driver of economic transformation is the ambition underpinning the 8th edition of GETEC, held under the theme: “The Entrepreneurial University at the Heart of the SND30.” Chaired by the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education and Chancellor of Academic Orders, Professor Jacques FAME NDONGO, in the presence of the Minister Delegate at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Public Contracts, the Minister of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts, as well as Rectors and Vice-Chancellors and the representative of the Mayor of the City of Yaoundé, the ceremony took place at Place de l’Indépendance.
Through this eighth edition, GETEC seeks to establish a new paradigm: that of a university capable of transforming scholarly knowledge into know-how and interpersonal skills, but above all, of converting students’ skills and creativity into concrete solutions. For the Chancellor of Academic Orders, this orientation responds to an imperative of economic sovereignty, particularly through reducing dependence on imports, strengthening competitiveness and promoting local solutions.
University incubators, mentoring programmes, partnerships with the private sector and the integration of entrepreneurship into curricula are, in this regard, essential levers. The challenge is also to ensure the quality and competitiveness of student-produced goods and services through standardization, certification and the protection of intellectual property.
This dynamic is supported by financial assistance. Following funding of CFAF 450 million in 2025, provided under the supervision of MINPMEESA to 22 Junior Enterprises, the same level of funding has been announced for the 2026 edition, notably for the acquisition of equipment, compliance with applicable standards and the protection of innovations. According to the data presented, the projects previously supported are expected to contribute to the creation of 900 direct and indirect jobs and generate more than CFAF 1.5 billion in turnover.
GETEC is thus positioning itself as a genuine laboratory for the University–Business model. This ambition is consistent with the orientations of the SND30, which seeks to make university youth not only a workforce, but also a productive and innovative force and a source of job creation, capable of contributing to the emergence of future national champions.
